LENTEN CROSSES:
Burn, Shot, Sawn

Raleigh, North Carolina

48" x 48" x 2"
Wood, Steel, Plaster, Pigments

These three wall pieces display the effects of three distinct acts of violence. The cross form recalls the crucifixion, an historically violent act, which is a focal point of the Christian season of Lent. Lenten Crosses was commission by a local church and installed in the main gallery outside of their worship space as a meditation inspiration during Lent. The popularity of the pieces secured them a permanent home in that location after a brief loan for display at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.
