Spice Street is a large, Middle Eastern-based restaurant located within a high bay "box" of a renovated shopping mall. This art project was a way to add content, interest, and feature to an otherwise neutral space. The most prominent component of the art was a series of "tent" lights" creating prominent light-emitting vertical elements within the large space, These elements also establish an intimate canopy for nine large-group tables. The tent lights are each one-of-a-kind stretched fabric, stiffened and made permanent with fire-retardant polyester resin and fiberglass.
